WHY IS NETTLE GREEN TEA SMOOTHIE SO HEALTHY?

A powerful antioxidant drink: all four ingredients are packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

BANANAS: high in fibre, an excellent source of vitamin B6, contains moderate levels of potassium, vitamins B12, C, manganese, magnesium.  According to the New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a healthy diet can reduce the risk of a stroke.  Recovery drink: good for hangovers as alcohol causes the body to lose potassium. Bananas increase enzymes in the body that protect the body from infections, and reduce acidity in the stomach.  A good energy booster because of the high glucose, fructose and sucrose content.

PINEAPPLE has high levels of vitamin C and manganese. Manganese is a good mineral for energy production and antioxidant defence. Vitamin C is a highly effective antioxidant.  Important because it promotes healing, neutralises harmful toxins, and helps prevent cancer and heart disease.

KIWIFRUIT is a great antioxidant, very high in vitamin C and dietary fibre; contains potassium, vitamins B6, E and K, and Omega 3 fatty acids. Vitamin K helps prevent heart disease. One kiwifruit contains more than 100 percent of the recommended amount of vitamin C based on a 2000-calorie daily diet.

NETTLE tea is highly prized as a natural antioxidant herbal remedy. High in vitamins A, thiamine (B1) and riboflavin (B2), C, D, E, and K; loaded with minerals: calcium, chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, silicon, sulfur and zinc.  Nettle is a natural diuretic, enhancing the natural excretion of waste, a kidney stimulant that helps to prevent kidney stones and urinary tract infections like cystitis and nephritis. Nettles helps to clear skin conditions like eczema, and speeds up metabolism so it could aid in weight loss.  The high iron content may help iron deficient anaemic patients.  Given the high calcium content nettles are good for healthy teeth and bones.
